What We Can Learn

Monster trucks can be a lot of fun to drive but they can make a huge mess, running over cars and such.  Fortunately, you can have this remote control monster truck from New Bright.  The QR code is small, about 3/4″, but is still easy to scan.  Unfortunately, that is about where the good features end.  The encoded URL does feature the company name but the problem is the landing page; it’s not mobile-friendly.  The design is interesting but unreadable on a mobile phone unless you do a bunch of pinching and moving.

From a user’s perspective, the QR code placement is not bad.  Customers will be able to learn about the truck before purchase if they are willing to navigate around a non-mobile-friendly site.  Most customers will land on the page and bounce off just as quickly, not wanting to waste their time on such a site.  Great opportunity for improvement

When making your own QR codes, keep the following in mind:

  • It is difficult to say it enough; mobile-friendly landing pages are essential for a successful QR code campaign and for the future of your business on the internet.
  • Adding a good call-to-action can persuade more people to scan your QR code where you can interact with them further.
