What We Can Learn

Pet owners want happy animals.  To many people, their pets are family.  Some people dress their pets in clothing, take pictures, etc.  When pet owners purchase something for their critters, they want to know how their pet will like it.

For Kitty City Hideaway, the QR code directs customers to a short video showing a fully assembled Kitty City with a variety of parts.  You can see the smiles on those small, furry faces as they play and exercise.  Just what every good kitty needs, a Kitty City.

From a user’s perspective, the QR code placement is good.  Someone looking to purchase this piece of the play set might want to see what a complete set would look like.  This video shows happy kitties playing.  Just the right encouragement to move a prospective customer into a paying one.

Summary

When making your own QR codes, keep the following in mind:

  • If you want to show off the features of your product, video is a great way to do so.  Fortunately, YouTube does a fantastic job of being mobile-friendly.
  • If your product is part of a system, using a QR code to link to other pieces of the system is a great way to encourage repeat purchasing.
