What do the QRrrr code look like (colors, design, etc)?

  • The QRrrr code be the normal variety, black and white, just like the Jolly Rogers.

What We Be Learnin’

All Outdoors does a fine job with this QRrrrr code.  The size be between the bore of me pistol barrel and a large gold doubloon.  It be so easy to find, there be no way it could come around for a broadside without ye be seein’ it first.  When ye scan the QRrrr code with yer Blackbeardy (ye know, the pirate smart phone…), ye be not carried by the mystic internet trade winds to a wonderous port-of-call, full of pirate treasure!!! ARRRR!!!!!  This treasure map not be right.  The port-of-call be there but the treasure be missing? ARRRR!!!  What be this trickery!

To see what me be meanin’, click yer hook on ye picture next to ye Blackbeardy screen above.

From a landlubbers view, the QRrrr code be front and center, just like a good pirate first mate.  But, this QRrrr code need a bit more pirate touch ‘for it can raise the Jolly Rodgers and take to the seven seas.  Sure, any landlubber be findin’ this QRrrr code but when they be scannin’ it, they are taken to a port that not be there.  It be like a treasure map with no treasure.  Nothin’ makes a pirate madder than no treasure! That, and tryin’ to text yer first mate on yer Blackberdy with a hook.  ARRRR!!!

How can we be helpin’ All Outdoors?

ARRRR!!!! The first step be to build ye port-of-call.  If ye not be doin’ that, ye needs to redirect all the pirates and landlubbers to the right port.  Ye don’t be wantin’ a mob of angry pirates, do ye?

Next, ye needs to add a call-to-action for ye QRrrr code.  Pictures work well for pirates who can’t read much but words be the best route.  Keep ye words short and simple; pirates be not the best readers.

Last, before ye are keelhauled fer a scurvy QRrrr code, be sure to encode a URrrrL that forwards to the port ye be tryin’ to send yer crew to.  No pirate be wantin’ a treasure map that not be pointin’ to any treasure.

Summary

When ye makin’ yer own QRrrr codes, be keepin’ the following in mind:

  • Treasure maps or QRrrr codes not be pointin’ to a port or treasure will make any pirate yell BLOW ME DOWN!  No pirate be wantin’ to be sent to Davy Jones locker due to a bad map.  Check yer map before leaving yer treasure.
  • No pirate be followin’ a treasure map if they not be knowin’ it be a treasure map.  Ye be needin’ to tell yer crew yer map be a map.

We be startin’ to see QRrrr codes on a large variety of products.  Me be seein’ them on a can of black eye peasbrake padssilicone spray, a box of doughnuts, plantain chips, and many more.  Where have ye been seein’ QRrrr codes or treasure maps lately?
